Support for Dads…
Unfortunately there is no Dad Matters project in your area yet, but below are some links for various organisations, who could provide support.
If you have any questions or would like more specific support, please check out the links in your area section.
Dad Matters is managed by local Home-Start Schemes, who have been providing support to families since 1973
At Home-Start, we know that being a parent isn’t always easy and that life can bring stress and challenges that get in the way of an enjoyable family life.
We support parents with pre school children, helping them give their children the best possible start in life. Offering a unique, confidential family support service, Home-Starts approach has a proven, lasting, positive impact on the development of children and the health and well-being of their parents. We provide support to families who are finding parenting a challenge due to external stresses such as depression, loneliness, illness or disability. Our team of volunteers visit a parent in their home each week for a few hours to support, empower and motivate, encouraging positive change.

When we are feeling low there are some things that we can do that may help .
Spend time with the people or things you love and recognise what they bring to your life.
Try to get exercise when you can, even for a short time as part of your daily routine.
Use a breathing exercise or muscle relaxation technique to calm anxious feelings.
Try to keep connected with friends ..
paying attention to what we eat,
taking time to exercise and to relax,
maintaining good quality sleep.
Spend quality time together and by yourself · It’s OK to have alone time as a parent ·
Help children build their own spaces ·

Home-Start Hull – Support for Dads and other co-parents of children aged 0-2 in Hull
About PADS (Partners and Dads)
Our PADs (Partners And Dads) peer support service is part of the Start for Life & Family Hubs offer in Hull. We know that it’s just as important for dads and other co-parents to get support with their parenting as it is for mums. Dads play a massive part in their children’s lives and sometimes it’s good to have other people in a similar position to talk to about the journey, from finding out you’re going to be a parent, to tackling teething, weaning and potty training!
We have some really relaxed and informal groups set up in different areas across the city, we can also offer home-visiting and phone support and we have a closed Facebook group. There are two groups each week and a Saturday morning group every second and last Saturday of the month.
As part of the project, we have recorded a series of Podcasts (PADcasts) which are available on our Youtube channel and Spotify
For up-to-date information, follow us on social media or contact lucy@homestarthull.org.uk
